Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is technically known as blepharoplasty. It can dramatically rejuvenate the eyes, reducing dark circles, “bags” and saggy skin, and remove creases and wrinkles. Results achieve a more youthful appearance, making you look more refreshed and vibrant.
The aging process weakens skin elasticity, causing a number of problems to occur. The most notable of these problems are aesthetic, and the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and puffiness occur contributing to a tired or aged appearance.
Eyelid surgery can do the following for you:
erase dark circles or bags
eliminate excess skin and fat that contribute to the appearance of wrinkles, bags an creases
rejuvenate the area, so that you no longer look tired
minimize puffiness due to inherited factors.
General Eyelid Surgery Procedure
Eyelid surgery takes place on an outpatient basis. After the patient is placed under anaesthetia, tiny incisions are made in the natural contours around the eyes. These incisions are placed in strategic locations, so that no visible scarring occurs and results appear much more natural. If total eyelid rejuvenation is required, Dr. Turley generally begins by targeting the upper eyelids by removing fatty tissue and address loose skin. The lower eyelids are targeted next so that puffiness and dark circles may be eliminated. Laser technology may be used during the surgery to minimize negative side effects such as bleeding.
You may choose to improve only one set of eyelids, either the upper or lower. It’s up to you. Depending on the areas targeted, your expectations and your physiology, cosmetic eyelid surgery generally lasts about 1 to 3 hours. Additional procedures may also be performed at the same time.
Recovery From Eye Surgery
A complete list of post-operative instructions will be given to you. Follow them closely to help your body recovery quickly and properly. You’ll most likely require plenty of rest and limit your movement. Dressings, applied immediately following surgery, will help the recovery process. Any discomfort experienced following surgery can be minimized with prescribed oral medication. Complications are rare, and can be minimized by following post-operative care instructions carefully.
Dr. Turley applies newer surgical techniques, and coupled with his expertise in the procedure, this allows patients to experience faster recovery.
